Title: Belly grommets
Post by: jlnel on July 31, 2011, 08:07:55 PM
hi, i just got a couple kits to play with, they look great! i wont have much time yet to do all the steps to finish them but couldnt wait to put one together. i read someplace here or in the store that you can crimp the belly grommets. i did notice that they didnt fit that well, to the curve of the plug, just off a tad, could catch with fingernail easy. any tips how to get them to fit flush ?

I just take a small rubber tip hammer and tap them softly they bend easily but most of the time I just glue them in and when epoxied it fills the fingernail void you can also use a small egg sinker on its side and tap that with the hammer or drill a slightly shallow hole the outside diameter of the grommet and it will lay flat that willl give the best look asthetically, if you look at the A-40 kit you will see what I mean.

take a block of wood and drill it with the same diameter as the lure. Tap that with the hammer and it will flatten the grommets. Fish don't care....
