Wire through saltwater lures
« on: February 02, 2012, 09:26:25 AM »
I am a new kid on the block. I have been making freshwater soft plastic and wooden baits for quite a few years. I have never used the through lure design before. I tried it once and I could not get the hole perfectly thru the lure. I got so frustrated so I used 2" screw eyes. I would appreciate any help in drilling the proper hole in the lures. HELP!

Go slow and predrill a small drill bit first. Recommend you use a drill press.

well drill out for your belly weight first....(.that is if your gona use one).....next drill out for your belly hook hole......now you will drill from the top of the plug towards the belly hook hole than reverse the plug and drill out where your tail weights will go on the rear of the plug toward the belly hook hole.....this will divide your drilling in half go slow use a brad point bit..........and yes use a drill press...........hope this helps   B&D lures
