Securing fish scale netting?
« on: February 09, 2013, 08:04:29 AM »
What's the best way to secure scale netting to a lure for painting? I've had some luck using twist ties, but sometimes the over-spray leaves a hole in the base color and won't blend well. Taping leaves  too straight a an edge. Suggestions?

well ive used closepins.......pull your scale material tight and work your way down the plug......then put the closepins on a piece of card board.....the pins make the plug stand upright and on a seprate piece of material you can spin the plug around and do the other side..........i dont do scales anymore........i just like white pearl bodys...and highlite with colors........good luck :)

Staples Binder Clips work well also and are available in some real small sizes.

Yup clothes pins, and binder clips work well. In a pinch, netting material stretched out in a needle point hoop works well too.
