say rac37......let me know how the eel swims......i made the same thing a year or so and i just dosent swim at all.... i even took the tail off and it still dont wobbel  i even bent the lip up/down.....i gave up and figured id get to it....im clueless  ........i like the rubber tail as well..........im useing a bill hurley rubber sand eel...........but eel or no eel i just cant get'r to swim.................wad up salt any ideas :)

Handy those things swim nice. Did you put too thick of a clear on it or something? Bending the lip up is going to make it dive more, down is going to keep it on top. And I would assume you know not to tie direct it needs a loop on the front. Those things are pretty much hard to frig up?

im useing the small lefty  7/8x9/16.....i have the belly weight in the center of the plug and just behind the belly weight is a 2/0 hook   and the plug is 1.5oz :'(

that's a tallywhacker swimmer. Doesn't take a lefty 1 lip it takes a pikie 3 lip...you got WAY too small of a lip on there.

handyman i just took the tallywhacker and the pikiezilla down to the creek for a swim.the tally was draging tail till i took the finishing nail out,its the tailend of a 12" sluggo i think the nail gives it more action,not so for the tallywhacker,swam great once i removed the nail.i really like the way the pikie swam.i'm going to try both on the open beach once things clear up around here.

thanks rac37.5.......yea years ago i tried to copy a tattoo eel swimmer but ommitted half the body and added a large rubber grub in black but the thing never swam  and when i saw that nice pic of that tallywacker  i headed to my bone yard and pic up that same plug and headed to the ceeeement pond to see if it worked.........but thanks to you guys im on the road to recovery.........i just might have some of those lips around    bill hurley tails are nice salty has them on his site ..........im heading out in the A.M. at the ungodly hour 3:30 AM....some reports of some monster blue fish in the surf in seaside park nj  in  Island Beach State Park   caio! :)
