That's a damn fine looking lure man. I bet it hurts to lose them to the tooth monsters. I just started, and I'm dreading the first loss to a shark or cuda...

Hey thanks man! Yeah it does suck lol, a lot of time into them that's for sure, Luckily no cuda or sharks to worries about up here :)

Thanks Andy :)

that will catch fish no doubt!!!
-
How did you get the fish scale foil on so wrinkle-free? Very nice work for sure!
-
Hey Andy,
first I laid the plug on construction paper, Then traced it, I wanted the scale tap to land just behind the eye, I then cut out a pattern out of the construction paper, I then laid the construction paper Template on the plug, I then use a piece of 5/16 stainless steel round stock cut about 8" to further refine the template by rubbing it along the edges of the Construction paper template, I than trim the construction paper template accordingly, I now lay the template on top of the scale tap, trace the template and cut out the shape, Now I lay the scale tape cut out on top of the plug and use the 5/16 round stock to shape the tape to the plug, Once that is done remove the Paper from the back of the scale tape And apply it to the plug use the 5/16 round stock To smooth out any puckers or bubbles By running it along the edges of the scale tap, Once the tape is smoothed out you're ready for paint I air brush over the edges of the scale tape to really blended into the plug, add the eyes and clear coat, hope this helps :)

And thanks by the way! :)
-
That's great...Thanks. I think I am going to start to try some tape on some poppers this fall and winter.
