Installing Belly weights
« on: January 31, 2012, 11:13:59 AM »
I am finally starting to work on the kits I bought a few weeks ago.
I am taking Saltys advice with his method of sealing 60/40 BLO/Thinner then Lacquer sanding sealer.......have a large pickle jar to seal and soak them in.

I do have a question on belly weight install with epoxy.
How do you sand and fair out the epoxy with the plug body without sanding your sealer off????

Thanks Bill

Bill the epoxy should be in the hole itself and then cover with wood filler or leave as is and seal. Fish don't care if the weights are filled smooth or not.

Recommend you install weights and sand before the lure is dipped. The sealing should be last before its painted.
