-
yea!!! i hear that salt :)
-
I can smell the diesel already
-
clang, clang clang ahhhhhhh
-
29' boat is a nice size
-
actually in my opinion it's too big, cant trailer it so you have to rely on marinas for storage and haul outs, thats where the money lies :(
I wanted something to trailer but this deal is too good if everything is ok with the boat. I have my friends 23 mako center console still available too, probably the best bang for the buck,he's bugging me to buy it 7000.00. then there's salty's boat ;D 9
-
thousand bucks for winter storage alone :'(
-
you should buy mine. I'd take 10 for it right now. Don't know how I'd get it out of the backyard though. It's buried.
-
give me the details again. 2001 20fx was it? 115 4 stroke? w/hardtop. hours? electronics?
come on salty lets make it happen save me from spending more money.
:)
-
2003 boat, 2002 yami f115, starboard hard t top, full electronics-radar, color garmin gps, fishfinder, icom radio. don't remember hours think it's about 300 or so. all kinds of shit. tandem trailer 4100 lb with spare axle, trailer box. Boat is pisser the only thing that don't work is the raw water wash down I don't know what's wrong with it, could be pump not sure.
-
why the hell am I building a surf rod when I now have access to a boat... ;D

yea the 29' topaz should be real comfortable on the water........but the marina fee's would kill ya.... yea bruce!! should be good flukin on a 29' boat......and trollin bunker spoons to boot :)
-
Nummie,
I have a 28 and I trailer it. Grant you it isn't a lot of fun when you have to hit the brakes! Whatever you get I'd be willing to drag mine up and buddy boat on a few trips this summer. Already have my HMS permit. Headed to Flroida on Sunday to see what I can catch.
A friend has a 29 Topaz right down the road from me. You are getting a really sweet boat! ...and if you buy Salty's I'm sure that is great too! ;)
-
he aint gonna buy my boat
-
Handy and I need to see...
-
No topaz. Something just didn't seem right.
Motors ...... I want to hear them run, too much rust.
Yer back in the mix
-
I'm not trying to sway anyone from Scott's boat but I have to say that a 23 Mako (if it one of the older ones) is probably one of my all-time most hansome boats. I'm not crazy about the cutout transom but the lines are sweet and it has enough shoulder up front to handle whatever the seas can offer. I have a 27.5 Cobia and it just doesn't have the flair that I would like. It is a good boat with lots of character but I prefer a Carolina flair. I keep looking at the 28 Buddy Davis's which are relatively cheap (compared to a Regulator or some other of that type). For now, the Cobia will have to do.
If it doesn't seem right you are making the wise choice. No sense in jumping in too quick on that investment.
-
so when you coming to see it nummy
-
I hear ya Bill. the mako is my friends boat, I never seen it but saw lots of pictures, he says its in great shape and I believe him. it's an inboard tho, which is fine for me cause I can fix that. the motor was jusy recently redone so......
plus I had one a while back :)
-
salty dig it out. ;D
-
COME ON UP i'll dig it out
-
say bruce he aint gona buy saltys boat :)
-
Handy - what are we going to do :bash: Comon Nummie... pull the trigger.
-
I'm just kidding... We wise. the best times of a boat owner are when you buy it and sell it. I know, I was once a boat owner.
-
keep workin on that surf rod bruce i was gona suggest you you cut in down and make a boat rod out of it.......but never mind now........cant wait to try it out......fuji concept? hmmm......if i like the way it throws ill wind up ripping my ron arra apart.....ive been toying with the idea of building a lami 9'........cabin fever ya know....... :)
-
Scott's boats a good deal, we logged a lot of miles and brought a lot of fish over the rail :)
-
the topaz was nice, it offered a lot but a few things bothered me, when he winterized it he cut all the hoses instead of removing the clamps, the boat looked as tho it was done in a rush, keys left in the ignition, electronics still in the overhead boxes, he romved the refridge and put it between the v birth thru a piece of plywood over it and that made the v birth one big bed. I asked why the fridge? blankets and pillows looked as tho someone just slept there too :o . painted over rust on the motors, it had snap a bolt changing an injector all over it :-[ then theres money to be spent fixing that. lots of lose wires in the compartment and the oil in the bilge wasn't too enticing too.
I wonder if the foot of ice that covered 3/4 of the new batteries and the shafts will have any effect on them.
:bhappy:

I left Savannah, Georgia this morning headed to the Tampa area. As I rolled down I-95 i saw a 23 Mako being towed by a white Suburban with Mass tags. Your other option wasn't slipping town, was he, Nummie? I laughed when I saw it...
-
nah, still there. :)

You left Savannah in January voluntarily? Bill, I used to think you were one of the saner ones around here. I know it's warmer in Maryland than up here, but sheesh! Even my wife's talking about moving south. Of course, last summer, she was talking about moving to Canada.
-
say nice boat numbie lotta room thats what i like keep it simple
-
PJ,
I left Savannah headed south to Tampa where it is 81 degrees right now. I'm headed back out to do a little reconnoitering...
I'm crazy...not dumb! :D

Bill is a different story. We'll deal with him for leaving us to go to 80 degree temps
:)
-
i hear ya salty :)
-
Hey Numbie - what's the verdict on the boat??? Did you get a boat?
-
well I spoke to the topaz owner several times since, he wants to drop it in the water and run it for me to show me she runs great. thats in the spring. I'm leaning towards salties. the mako is nice, but.....
I don't know lol
-
ah!!!! go with saltys boat............its a girls gone wild boat for sure......... id be a little lerry about that topaz you said the guy cut the hoses instead removing the clamps to winterize it............ok!!! post the pick of the topaz and post a pick of saltys boat........the forum group members will vote on the boat :)
-
get both...
-
both!!! you sure know how to spend numbnuts money there bruce but it dose make the voting easer :)
-
handy - it makes perfect sense to me. The 29 topaz for offshore - tuna trips. The 23 to cover our striper trips.
-
you crack me up bruce
-
my friend with the mako called today and says he's got someone interested in his boat. so now I have to decide within the next couple days.
oh brother.
-
I'm back to the cold. Hold off on buying either. If its anything there like it is here you can just about pick what you want. selling boats is not getting easier so you'll have great choices. What are you looking for in a boat? Perhaps there is a perfect one that someone on this board knows about..
-
my ideal boat is a 22-25 walkaround. just to keep me out of the weather. but I don't think I can find a nice one in the range I'm looking to spend. Scotts boat is the best deal for me financialy, newer boat, easier to trailer and won't cost an arm and a leg to run. just a we bit small tho.
the mako is a 1978, one tank was replaced at a cost of 600.00 a year ago. the other will prolly be soon to follow.i m thinking salties boat will at least get me back out on the water, use it a couple years and hopefully things will get better.
-
Judging from his displayed mechanical abilities through machine creation videos I'd say his is a safe bet! Small is relative if you pick your days. I started picking my days a few years ago...something we do as we get older and feel the result of [ast days beating our knees to hell.
-
you would never find my boat small.
-
well maybe if you took timmy out. he's got such a big head that any boat would feel small with him on it.
-
oh boy... here we go again...
-
I just wanna go flukin :)
-
your a fluke alright :)
