8,000 RPM???
I don't think I ever had a grinding wheel go that fast, let alone a lathe...and I was machining even after they stopped using line shafts and flat leather belts! ;D

Yep most of my turning is done between 6 and 8400rpm. 2X pullies with a 220v 3ph frequency drive. You get a better finish esp when you reverse the motor.
