Title: Soliciting input for video ideas
Post by: Out Fishing on January 15, 2014, 06:10:50 AM
I'd like to put together some youtube videos on lure/kit building in the next few months, what would you like to see covered?

I have some ideas but would like to see what people out there would like.

Think some videos that show the "process" and stages of the sealing and paint primer undercoat , would show beginers its not rocket science.

Then a video about your options and the builder to select colors and schemes to make the plug a working plug that fits into yout style of fishing .. For example.. daytime plug colors, nightime plug colors... deep depth plugs and shallow plugs..

How to tune plugs to swim correctly.. and what swiming correctly means "the criteria or correctness"...

and throw a few shot of Pamela Anderson in there and You'll have a hit  :D

Through wire drilling and keeping all weight and hook holes aligned properly when drilling a blank plug.

I always like to see the craftsmanship, so any build videos would be great to watch. Any or all aspects from sanding, sealing, painting, to clearcoat. Painting is my favorite part! Adding glitter is something I am working on now. :lurk:

It looks like all the possible  topics of plug building have been covered in prior posts.
I think putting them into the proper sequential tutorial is key.
Part 1- could include through drilling; and blind holes for weight placement and through holes for hook placement, cutting slits for metal lips. Determining the proper size hooks and amount of weight for the plug. How each plug should lay at rest and under movement.
Part 2- could include what wood species is best for plugs,  selection, sanding and sealing.
Part 3- could be selecting the right primer and paint (both with cans and airbrush), basic color schemes and design, color wheel, using netting to represent scales and a final selection of clearcoats. How to apply epoxy clearcoat.
Part 4- could include use of grommets, spacers, nose and tail loops in finishing off the plug.

That's all I got!
