Finish Coat
« on: July 19, 2010, 12:59:01 AM »
Hi guy's, I'm building my first plug kits and have a question about the epoxy finish coat. My question is, is the finish applied before or after the plug is wired .....Thanks, Greg.

hay greg..............the epoxy coat is applied  before the plug is wired.........

I like to install the belly weight,  glue in the belly grommit and install the eyes
then i epoxy the plug  and slowly spin for a couple of hours
the reason i install weight, grommit, and eyes .....is the epoxy adds extra insurance for those parts not to fall off.............good luck........handy!

Can do either. Some guys like to put it all together first then use a pair of vise grips to hold the tail loop while you coat it. Makes it easy to flip it so the finish doesn't run.. Does run more of a risk of ruining your nice paint job though.
