Handy and one of the others posted Pics of their turning motors. I looked through most of the posts, did a search and I'll be damned if I can find them. Ya' out there Handy? Thanks!
cabelas has a small rod turning motor, I used to put a keychain split ring on the end of it and hooks plugs end to end. Use 4" angle braces mounted to a piece of pine to support every 2 lures.
They're expensive now though...
I use a 1 inch diameter dowl and drill holes and insert electric clips on either end. I have four on each end. I can then attach 4 plugs and rotate the dowl using the electric motor.
try one of theses:

hope this helps tom....like i said the motor is a work horse plus its biderectional so you can spin your plug clockwise or counter clockwise rod builders supply carries these motors try mudhole tackle if you have a local rod building shop near you they might have them there
mudhole under equipment 13.80 30-36 or 9-11 rpm
Still going with my rotisserie setup sorry still trying to upload the pic.
no the rotisserie set up works well to......but that motor cost 75-80 smakers.........unless you have a nieghbor close by that you can permanetly barrow his ;) .........i dont turn many plugs
Thanks for the replies. My rotisserie motor has a blazing 3 rpm. It looks like I'll be buying from Mud Hole. They have a 30 or 9 rpm motor ? I would like to try Flex Coat. Lite or high build? When using the syringes, can they be cleaned and reused? Have only used rattle can clear coat, not too bad...One more step. Will be looking into all suggestions. Thanks...
say tom.... speaking for myself i use flex coat high build you can use both yes you can clean the syringes with alchohol......but you must realy flush them out.....and i play it safe by throwing them out the third time around same with the brushes........when you use the flex coat i must be stired at least 3min or until it gets clear again.....when you first stir it ...it will get cloudy ...keep stiring until it gets clear again........add a little fine glitter not to much you should be good with....2ml of each hardener/resen..................good luck........mudhole has the glitter :)
tom! 30 rpm works for me
I'm ordering the 30 rpm motor. if I go with a 4 lure set, can I stop and start to coat all 4 lures at the same time or should I start with just 2? Cabela's has a two part professional rod finish in pre measured packets, good reviews on their site. Anyone have experience with this product? Thanks.
cant speak for other brands tom....ive only used flexcoat......you can buy smaller bottles of flex coat......i like to mix my stuff rather than useing packets.... you can turn your motor manualy but if your doing 4 plugs you just have to work a little faster dont forget your set time with flex coat is 4hrs......but start off doing 1 plug to get the feel for things...i dont like useing devcon to coat 4 plugs u have to work to fast.....its ok for 1 plug....im not sure if devcon is UV protected i dont think so.......but flexcoat is UV protected.... how much is in a packet.....you dont want to wind up throwing your mixture out 2ml of each resin/hardner of flexcoat should be good per plug..depending on the size......a danny and or a surfster would work just fine for 1.5ml/2.0ml.......turn you motor manualy for each plug and just keep watching for sags......if you catch a sag just rotate or start the motor for awhile then stop and continue to coat your plugs.....once they are all coated .....start your motor...................good luck tom :)
Handy, Thanks for taking the time to answer my questions and the tips too. Big help...
Going with the 30 rpm motor, flex coat, and some glitter. I have some time to play around with the turning set up. Bruce, are you are using a chuck with the 1" dowel? Electrical test clips with an open female crimp end?
Good guys on this site! Tnks...
